today my boy
i listen to your voice
as it ventures forth

every word
a small embrace of arrival
a new place of discovery
a landmark of your progress
as you enter the world

i feel my tongue growing
thick with concern
as it feeds on
the silent act of waiting
to name
the price you pay
for every word you master

It is incredible how I can feel the weight of language and how it forms our future in the lines 'the price you pay, for every word you master'. It is a really breathtaking thought!
